Tailgate

Brothers and Alums,

On Saturday, October 3rd, 2009, we will be tailgating in the parking lot by the stadium along with our brothers of the Nu Nu chapter (Columbia University), brothers at Princeton, and brothers of the New Jersey and New York alumni-chapter before Princeton v. Columbia football game.

The tailgate starts at 12:30p and the game begins at 3.

A Message From the Consul

Brothers,

First off, I hope everyone had a great summer, and are transitioning the summer back to school. I have seen most of you guys, and it seems that all is well so far. I want to let you guys in on a few things so far this semester that I have been informed.

First, our alumni and last chapter adviser, Nick Buteas, is now back in the area, and is anxious to help out with any Sigma Chi activities. He also is working for the Chris Christie campaign and asked if any brothers would help him out this Saturday September 12th in Parsippany with the campaign. He says any help would be greatly appreciated. If any one is interested, please send me an email.

Next, we have our first chapter meeting this Sunday the 13th at 8 p.m. in the Mansion.

I look forward to our first meeting, and remember to dress appropriately for the meeting.

A Message From Our Praetor

Please join me in congratulating John Vitale, Chapter Advisor at Iota Kappa at FDU. John will be assisted by Josh Sims as assistant Chapter Advisor. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dan Hassan and Nick Buteas for their extensive support over the years as joint advisors. Their generosity with their time and support has been incredible! They have agreed to continue to assist John and Josh when needed.

The chapter consul Jeremy Eckles and his executive will be attending BLTW to learn the “nuts and bolts” to ensure an excellent rush in the fall. John will also attend the Chapter Advisor training at BLTW.

Sigma Chi is bringing Balfour Leadership Training Workshop to the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, N.C. from July 30-Aug. 1. Balfour LTW 2009 is themed "By This Act of Ours."

Huntsman Cancer Foundation

Brothers and Friends,

I have recently received a letter from Robert P. Haight, the Executive Vice President of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation personally thanking our chapter, Iota Kappa, for our donation of $500.00 that we raised over the course of my tenure as Quaestor of the chapter. The donations rose from our benefit concert as well as contributions from Brother Bill Sapoch and the hard work of our brothers. The conclusion of the letter reads:

"Now more then ever Huntsman Cancer Institute needs your help with the support of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. The efforts of Sigma Chi are making a difference. Your donation of $500.00 adds to that pool of Brother Helping Brother. By working together we will succeed. We look forward to working together in the future to bringing additional hope to all those who suffer from cancer."

Whenever someone asks you what Sigma Chi and Iota Kappa are all about, look no further then the work we have done to help the Huntsman Cancer Institute and our brothers across the nation that need our help.

As my graduating class goes from active to alumni status, I am proud of what we have accomplished in our careers in Sigma Chi and I have nothing but the utmost faith in the new Executive Board and current active brothers. Have a great summer and be proud of the organization that you represent.
